A year ago when Musk and his minions were ransacking the federal government, the advice to groups starting to mobilize in protest was to leave our phones at home to keep The Man from tracking and identifying us. Just a year ago. Maybe in Year Two we’ll collectively emerge from our incredulous stupor and show up in numbers that will make a difference. Right now I am so mad that I think, “I DON’T CARE!” I don’t care…let them track and identify me. I have kids and grandkids and am in the last couple of decades of my life, most likely. If not now to put fear aside, when? I keep waiting for someone to recruit old women for undercover work. Would I be THAT brave? I don’t know.
Your poem is sad and inspiring, spare but heavy. Thanks for writing and sharing it.
Thank you for this poem, Kathy, truly. I miss you.
mary, i miss you too.
Powerful, Kathy. My morning started with five advocacy calls. Together, we shall overcome.
Bearing witness takes a toll. Thanks for your poetry. I will send you one that soothed, also.
Powerful, Kathy. Thank you. We all have to bear witness.

Yes! You've captured something important about what's changed for all of us.
